The MNY Spotlight

Meet Alison Kenworthy, Founder of Homeworthy

Introduce yourself!

My name is Alison Kenworthy and I'm a three-time Emmy Award-winning television producer formerly with ABC’s Good Morning America, where I covered stories from the red carpets of the Golden Globes to the tennis courts of Wimbledon. After leaving ABC News in 2019, I founded Homeworthy, a digital media brand in the home and design space with more than 60+ million views across platforms and 500,000 subscribers.

Fans of Homeworthy love seeing the authenticity and lived-in aspect of the homes and people that you feature. How do you decide who and which homes get featured on the series?

I founded Homeworthy as a way of showcasing how homes shape peoples' lives. We feature extraordinary people and their homes around the world. We profile tiny New York City studio apartments as well as sprawling oceanfront Newport estates---and anything in between. We have a team of associate producers who look for stylish homes and people with personalities who won't shy away from the camera!

You went viral on TikTok when you showcased your NYC apartment because of your outdoor shower on the terrace! What other interesting design features do you have in your home?
Ha! Sadly, I wish we had more, but my taste leans more traditional (with a little flair!) when it comes to design. My husband's one request when we moved was that we had outdoor space so I found an apartment with a large terrace for outdoor entertaining. He just bought a movie projector and a golf net to work on his drive.  He's from Colorado so likes to spend as much time outside as he can!

Let’s play a game of this or that, home edition:

Trendy or classic? Classic
Neutrals or neon? Neutrals
Minimalist or Maximalist? Maximalist all the way!

What is your favorite way to spruce up your home before entertaining?
I always buy fresh flowers from my local bodega, light a candle, dim the lights, turn on some great music, and have drinks and nibbles at the ready.

Most unusual design feature you’ve seen in a home:

We recently profiled Elisabeth Holder, the CEO of Laduree in the United States, and she lives in an incredible loft apartment in SoHo and in the middle of the apartment has a beautiful brown leather Hermes swing that hangs from the ceiling!

What draws you to the Mestiza brand?

I love the classic lines and the use of bold prints and color
