“Self care is how you take your power back.”

“Self care is how you take your power back.” - Lalah Delia
My entrepreneurial journey has taught me a lot about business but it’s also given me somewhat of a spiritual awakening. The past 12 months have been challenging as they have for many small businesses but along with running a company, I also had covid, relocated my family, had a stroke, had a baby and then all the emotions and anxieties that follow.

The other issue I was facing was the severe guilt I felt for feeling sorry for myself. Why should I feel sad? I have healthy children, a loving husband, a supportive family and a roof over my head. I didn’t feel like I even deserved to be sad.
Fortunately, I was able to seek the help of a professional. I was able to see where my anxieties were warranted and where they were irrational. I discovered buried feelings and emotions that I had to address. Of course, I’m still a work in progress and can’t change everything about myself right away (or even want to), but it all begins with being self-aware: finding a sense of calm and flexibility.
By taking this opportunity to care for myself, I soon felt a new sense of empowerment. I was able to see my business with a fresh perspective. I saw the great things about it that make me so proud, the parts that need a change, and the opportunities we had not even tapped! I became excited to attack the tasks on hand and hopeful that in one way or another, things would work out and if they didn’t, learning from it is an accomplishment that shouldn't be overlooked.
The circumstances have been rough for us ladies, but take the power back by taking care of yourself. Your form of self care can be anything from an intense talk therapy session to just simply starting the day in a fantastic dress and ending it with wine with the people who make you laugh.  Sometimes, those little things are enough. Just make sure you do them!
Our company is founded on the principle of building up your confidence. If we can play a small part in making you feel enriched and happy, then we’ve won. That’s why we do this. That’s what matters to us.
What types of things are you doing to take care of yourself?
xx,
