“The best kind of day begins with hope and ends with gratitude” – Caroline VJ

This week, we concluded our Mestiza Heirloom Project with a partnership with the Pink Ribbon Girls, an organization that provides free direct services to those with breast or gynecological cancers throughout their service regions. These services can be anything from a free ride to treatment, food delivery, house cleaning and peer support.

A few weeks ago, I was talking to a friend who is very much engrained in St. Louis’ philanthropic efforts. I brought up our new initiative, “The Heirloom Project,” where we gift dresses to underprivileged high school seniors. My friend immediately bubbled with joy when she presented the opportunity to partner with the Pink Ribbon Girls. She was so proud of the contributions the organization has made and also found opportunity for Mestiza to play a role.

As these women shared their stories with us, we were flooded with emotion. Some women wanted to gift their daughters a dress for being their biggest champions during treatment, some wanted to simply feel beautiful again and others were just straight up over the pandemic and wanted to wear a ballgown to McDonalds!
We were so inspired by the strength, selflessness and positivity of these incredible women who have endured so much. We were honored to play a small part in their proms, family reunions, photo ops or just a night in, looking a little extra fabulous!
It was a wonderful reminder of why we love our jobs—to design for awesome, inspiring women who will leave an incredible legacy.
xx,
